Manufacturing parts in PEWTER (known as white metal) using Spin Casting requires an adapted range of moulds. The SILCODISC-PE series has excellent mechanical strength and tear resistance, which guarantees a very long mould life. They are specially designed and formulated for the spin casting of low-melting-point metal alloys: Pewter and lead. They are also suitable for the centrifugation of RESINS.

Our SILCODISC-PE series of moulds is characterised by:
- Extraordinary resistance to tearing.
- Low viscosity before vulcanization (raw) that facilitates handling when preparing the mould and hammering parts, minimizing the “rebound” effect.
- Great flexibility, which allows the demoulding of complicated pieces.
High resistance to metal abrasion.

Which SILCODISC-PE should I choose?
In order to determine the most suitable type of mould for the part you want to manufacture, you have to take into account different factors such as the type of material to be used, the shape of the part, the degree of flexibility needed to remove the part from the mould, etc.

Advice: To manufacture parts that are difficult to remove from the mould, choose moulds with lower hardness, as they are more flexible and have excellent resistance to breakage.
HOW TO USE
Hands, workbenches and utensils must be kept at the highest level of cleanliness. Original parts must be free of grease or varnish.
Due to the low viscosity of the mould before vulcanization, the parts are placed in the usual way and very easily.
Temperature: 170 – 180ºC
Pressure: 10 kgs/cm2 minimum. See our pressure table
Time: 5 minutes for every 2 mm. of mould thickness.
EXAMPLE: A 10+10 mm mould. = 20 mm. thick needs 50 minutes of vulcanization at the indicated temperature.
